Dana Point History: The First Homes

1887     San Juan by-the-Sea, first Capistrano Bay tract opened, later called Serra (at present downtown Capistrano Beach/Doheny Village) was founded.

1914     Historic Dolph Mansion was built, as the first major private residence in Dana Point.

1924     San Juan Point, the first subdivision in Dana Point,  opened with cross streets named for colored ship lanterns.  Anna Walters built the gazebo (pictured right) at the foot of Blue Lantern and the Blue Lantern Fountain Lunch and Service Station.

Innovative Double-Sided Street Sign History Project

Traffic and street information signs are valuable conveyors of information to the public.  However, the reverse sides of these signs have no value other than to block pedestrian views.  There is a solution to this blocked view.  Use the reverse side of the sign to post identically-sized pedestrian sign panels depicting and explaining historical, cultural and other significant facts about the City of Dana Point....

Proposal for Historical Assets Information &
Management System ("HAIMS")

HAIMS is a historical assets information and management system which is based upon grass-roots authentication (as it should be) married with modern technology (computers, databases and the Internet) so as to present to the public a rich source of easily identifiable historical assets....
