Historical Society June Scholarship Fiesta Set For June 26 at Doheny State Beach

Historical Society June Scholarship Fiesta Set For June 26 at Doheny State Beach

The DPHS Scholarship Fiesta Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at Doheny State Beach.  Jack Saunderson, of historic Lucy’s El Patio Café, will once again cater the occasion with his delicious Mexican food, so popular with last year’s large crowd. Raffle tickets will also be available for a small price that allows you to enter our “opportunity drawing,“ which includes a variety of gift items, gift cards and other local products.

Be sure not to miss out on this festive event, which supports two scholarships.

The $1,000 Doris I. Walker Scholarship is being awarded to Ashley Hudson (left) of Dana Hills High School.

The $1,000 Lucy Chavarrias-Saunderson Scholarship is being awarded to Celia Aguilar (right) of San Juan Hills High School.

Advance purchase tickets for society members are $25 each and $30 for non-members.  Tickets may be purchased at the door for $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Tickets for children 12 and under are always $10.

The reservation form is available here:

and on our Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/DanaPointHistorical/.

Be sure to get your reservations early — last year’s very large crowd made the event a tremendous success for our scholarship program!

Metered parking is available on site.  City trolley service is also available to Doheny State Beach (Stop #8 or #15 on opposite side of PCH) from your closest stop and runs every 15 minutes until 9 p.m.  You can view the most recent map (same as 2018) and pick up locations here (click on the map to enlarge it):  http://danapointchamber.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/FINALROUTEMAPSummer2018.jpg

The Society has been awarding these scholarships for 19 years to deserving high school seniors headed for college.
