Happy New Year from the Dana Point Historical Society

Happy New Year from the Dana Point Historical Society

The Dana Point Historical Society had a beautiful day to conclude our Year of Dana celebration with the dedication of the Dana Bicentennial Plaque on Sunday, December 6. A crowd of members and guests circled the Dana statue as Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett read the plaque as it was unveiled by two Richard Henry Dana Elementary School Student Council Officers. Assemblyman Bill Brough, Mayor John Tomlinson, DanaWharf’s Don Hansen, Dana Elementary Principal Christina Portillo and Harbor Director Brad Gross joined DPHS President Barbara Johannes in thanking San Juan Historical Society President Tom Ostensen and his fellow society members for commemorating our namesake with the statue installed in 1972.

As we reflect on the past year, we want to thank you for your support in honoring and preserving Dana Point’s history. We look forward to working together to continue to celebrate our history in 2016.

Remember to SAVE THE DATE of Wednesday, January 20 for our annual meeting, potluck supper, and election of board members.

Happy New Year!
