Mills Act: Yes

The current homeowners are members of the Dana Point Historical Society and applied for the Historic Resource Register in 2007, soon after buying this original Woodruff home. The City of Dana Point Planning Commission approved their application and the City Council recommended the California Mills Act tax abatement program for the home when the Historic Woodruff Home plaque was awarded to the owners by the Mayor Joe Bishop and City Council members on January 15, 2008. The one-story Spanish Colonial Revival home is built in a “C” plan on a raised lot. The architectural details include low-pitched, intersecting gable roofs with the two front gables forming a front patio in the center. Large multi-pane windows and French doors open on the patio. The house features hand troweled stucco, a red clay barrel tile roof, tile gable vents and wood casement windows. The living room features a unique fireplace. The home is one of four charming one-story Woodruff homes on El Encanto; two homes are across the street and a fourth is further up the street on the same side. Three of the homes are on the Historic Resource Register and qualify for the California Mills Act. Each El Encanto Woodruff home is charming, yet different in appearance.
